How Pickle & Honey handles the information you share when ordering platters or enquiring about event catering.

Who we are

Pickle & Honey is an independent catering business based in the North East of England, creating grazing platters, sweet treats and bespoke event catering.

We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. If you have a question about privacy, please get in touch through our contact page.

Information we collect

When you place an order or send an enquiry we collect your name, email address and phone number, along with your order or event details: the products you have chosen, your preferred date, guest numbers, venue, collection or delivery details, and any dietary or allergen requirements you tell us about.

Payments are taken by our payment provider. We receive confirmation that a payment has been made and basic transaction details; we never see or store your full card number.

We also collect limited technical information about how the website is used, such as pages viewed and device type, through cookies. See our Cookies Policy for details.

Why we use your information

To take and fulfil your order, arrange collection or local delivery, respond to enquiries and event catering requests, prepare quotes, meet our food safety and allergen obligations, take payment and issue confirmations and reminders, keep proper business records, and maintain and improve the website.

Legal basis for processing

We rely on performance of a contract to take and fulfil orders; our legitimate interests to answer enquiries, prevent fraud and run the website; your consent for non-essential cookies and any marketing messages; and our legal obligations for food safety, tax and accounting records.

Sharing your information

We share information only where it is needed to run the business: with our website host and ordering platform, our payment provider, the email service used to send order confirmations and replies, and our website analytics provider.

Where an event is catered at a third-party venue, we may share the practical details needed for delivery and setup. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.

How long we keep information

Order and payment records are kept for six years to meet UK accounting and tax requirements. Enquiries that do not lead to an order are kept for up to 12 months. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to and port your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

Where applicable, California residents have additional rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.

To make a request, contact us through our contact page.

Security

Information is held on password-protected devices and reputable hosted services. Payments are processed over encrypted connections by our payment provider.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page.
